Great first week for Academy

It has been a great first week of action at The Lisburn Distillery Academy. The U-13, U-15s and U-16s are all sitting top of their respective leagues, and not to be outdone the U-17s also have maximum points from their first two games.

Jamie Hamilton’s second hat-trick of the season was enough for the U-13s to see off Lurgan Town 5-2 in midweek and the livewire striker was at again on Saturday bagging another treble in a 5-1 victory over Sunnyside. The U-15s had their own hat-trick hero on Monday in Thomas Kisby and another from Sam Mulligean saw them defeat Banbridge 4-3. Saturday saw the 100% record kept in tact with a 6-1 victory over Newmill. The U-16s had a narrow 3-2 victory over Carrick, and a weekend victory over Sunnyside, to keep them in front of their nearest rivals. The U-17s two games saw identical 3-0 scorelines against Solway Stars and Portadown with the same goalscorers in each game, Scott Hunter (2) and Rhys Grainger. Maginnes and Crowe got the goals in a game in which the Youth Team were unlucky to go down 3-2 to Ballyclare. The U-14s got their first win against North End and the U-12s were again unlucky when on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline when up against TTBS Juniors, Carson Elliot getting the two goals.

At mini-soccer level the star of the show was Ryan Cressey who got nine goals in his competitive debut for the U-8s, Ben Bonar also got his name on the scoresheet in a high scoring five-a-side game against Newington, who scored quite a few of their own. It was tough going for the U-9s when faced with a very experienced Rosario side but the Wee Whites kept battling and were rewarded when Jake Hull got a deserved goal. At U-10s James Clyde, Jack Bonar, Bradley Ingram, Ross White and Jake Donaghy were all on the mark against SOPYC and St.Marys.
