Great weekend ahead in the Premier League

THERE is a feast of great football matches this weekend in the Premier League.

Can Lisburn Distillery end the great run by Cliftonville and can Linfield hold on to their four point lead at the top after their trip to Crusaders?

With second placed Portadown at Glentoran it all adds up to being a crucial day at the top.

The Crues are 13 points behind the Blues, but boss David Jeffrey expects a very tough challenge.

“Their win at Portadown last week has put them back into it and they will be desperate to follow that up by getting closer to us with a victory so we have to be at our very best to not only contain them, but to go on and win the game,” said Jeffrey.

Linfield have managed to cope pretty well without the strike force of Rory Patterson and Peter Thompson, but they will be put to the test at Seaview by a formidable outfit.

After their 3-3 draw at Glentoran last week the Whites can go to Solitude full of confidence.

“They are the team of the moment in terms of form, but we will go there hoping to bring their run to an end,” said manager John Cunningham.
