Halfway to key six point target

“We spoke before the game against Killymoon how important it was to get six points from the next two games,” explained Ciaran.
“We have massive games coming up against Knockbreda and Armagh so the aim is to keep up the pressure and the boys are halfway there.

“It was a comfortable win in the end over the bottom club, but last season these were the games we really struggled in so from that point it was good to take three points.

“It was also the first home game for four weeks and it was nice to be back on our own patch and play the way we like to.

“We were 3-0 up and they were down to ten men with their goalkeeper sent off and if there is a criticism is would be we really should have gone on and scored more goals.

“For the last 30 minutes we dropped off with basically the job done. I would have liked to see us push on for more goals but first and foremost we did the job required.

“I took Nial Lavery off ten minutes into the second half to rest him because of the big cup game on Tuesday night. We also took Paul Donegan off at the break because he had gone over on his ankle and although he wanted to play on we did not want to risk further damage. It was the right move because it was later revealed Paul had torn ligaments and will be out for about for weeks.”

Goalkeeper Ciaran Fox is making a massive contribution to the team this year. “I said before the match if the season was to end now then he would be the player of the year. You don’t really want to see him making so many good saves because it means we are giving chances away, but I suppose that is what he is there for. I would just feel a lot more comfortable if he does not win match of the match too often.”
