Hard-work doesn’t prevent defeat for Town U15s

They had goalkeeper Aaron Devlin to thank that it wasn’t more as he made some unbelievable saves throughout to keep the scoreline down.

The Town in fact did play well and it was only lapses in concentration that let opponents Dungannon in for their goals.

The back four of Henry Doogan, Charles Cully, Feargal Vaughan and Eoin Scullion defended well during the first half with James Orr providing an outlet up top using his pace and power to unsettle the home side’s rearguard.

Dungannon got a goal just five minutes before the break after a cross that should have been dealt was tucked away.

Town’s three in midfield enjoyed some real decent spells of play, especially Keelan Quigley who had a fine game, combining well with Shea Winters and Owen Vennard with slick passing.

Unfortunately they couldn’t turn this pressure into goals and as they piled on the pressure they left gaps at the back and Dungannon hit them with two quick fire strikes midway through the second half.

Shortly after this, Aaron Devlin produced three excellent saves - one from point blank range when he tipped a pile driver over the bar.

The locals had a couple of chances late on when first Michael Kelly almost converted from close range and Eoin Scullion and Keelan Quigely had efforts saved by the Dungannon goalkeeper.

Town conceded a fourth late on but they must be commended for their work rate as every player put in a shift right to the last whistle.

Dungannon are a highly rated outfit - sitting on top of the both the League and the League Cup group, so this was by no meansa terrible result.
