Haveron hopes Chines can be a goal threat for Rangers

Gary Haveron hopes to solve what he deems to have been a problem for Carrick Rangers last season, with the recruitment of experienced striker Miguel Chines from Knockbreda.

“We had the best defensive record in Championship 1, ourselves and The Welders equally conceding the fewest goals in the division, but we didn’t put the ball in the net often enough at the other end,” he explained.

“So it’s a no-brainer that this is a facet of our play which needed to be addressed and I hope the arrival of Chines will help do just that.

“He’s 34 and very experienced and, having scored 29 times last season, I would be delighted if he can replicate that sort of achievement for Carrick in the new campaign.”
