Haveron hopes Rangers can play with freedom at Solitude

Carrick manager Gary Haveron says his side can play with freedom as they take on Cliftonville in round three of the League Cup tomorrow evening (7:45 pm).

Haveron insists the weight of expectation is on Tommy Breslin’s men, despite the Reds having mustered just one win in six attempts on their own patch.

Carrick, who had no game at the weekend, have won seven on the spin in all competitions but travel to north Belfast knowing they will face a rigorous examination.

The Reds go into the match bouyed by their weekend derby win over Crusaders at Seaview.

Cliftonville have an incredibly strong squad of players and they are really going about things the right way. They have built the club on solid foundations,” Haveron said.

“We know we are up against it but we can go there and play with freedom because the expectation will be on a Cliftonville win.”

He added: “If we work hard, play for each other and stick together we’ll be ok. If the players do that, I’ll be proud of them.”

The Taylor’s Avenue boss hopes to have the returning Aaron Harmon, Aidan Watson and ex-Cliftonville man Jody Lynch all available for selection.
