Heartbreak for youth team

This week’s game away to Dundela at Wilgar Park will have a huge bearing on Celtic’s promotion prospects for the season. The push for the promotion places is so tight that any two from seven could realistically achieve this goal as only six points separate the top seven teams.

Saturday’s away game against Dundela has a 3pm kick off and the bottom line is three points are essential for Celtic to stay in the hunt.

The Winner of the Club Draw was Holly Capper (Paul O’Hara ticket seller) and the club thanked everyone who took part in the raffle.

The Youth team suffered the heartbreak of going out of the Harry Cavan Cup after a penalty shoot out against hot favourites Cliftonville Strollers in a dramatic game at Crewe Park, Glenavy recently.

The young Celts were leading 2-1 going into injury time courtesy of two sensational headed goals from Carlos Correia but Cliftonville equalised and as extra time yielded no further score the match concluded with a shoot out.

The team impressed many of the spectators which included former IFA President and current FIFA Vice President Jim Boyce who came to the dressing room after the game to congratulate the side on their magnificent performance and Carlos, although on the losing side, was awarded Man Of the Match.

On Saturday the side showed no ill effects after the midweek effort and beat Banbridge Rangers 2-1 with an own goal and a well struck low 25 yard drive from Jamie O’Neill settling the game.
