Here come the girls!

CARRICK Rangers are planning to launch a girls’ team into its current Colts set-up. The club is looking for female players between the ages of 12 to 14.

A club spokesman said: “The girls’ team will receive professional weekly coaching at our newly constructed 3G facility (beside Carrick Ampitheatre hockey pitch) and will also participate in a competitive local league at under-15 level.

“It is a great opportunity for females to get involved in a fun and social activity with a fitness, and competitive focus. The benefits of structured sporting participation are well documented, improving not only physical and mental wellbeing, but building other important personal attributes such as communication skills, confidence and self-esteem.”
