Higgins wants big City display

MIDFIELDER Ruaidhri Higgins believes Derry City players owe it to themselves to put in a display as they attempt to over come minnows Bluebell United and book their place in the FAI Ford Cup quarter-final, on Tuesday night.

Higgins, like all the players in the City dressing room was bitterly disappointed following their score-less draw on Friday night, is expecting a marked improvement for the replay, which also takes place at the Brandywell (KO 7.45pm).

The Candystripes go into Tuesday night’s match with Kevin Deery and Stewart Greacen both out with knee injuries, Sean Houston also misses out with an ankle problem, while Ryan McBride (groin), Patrick McEleney (ankle), Michael Duffy (ankle) and Shane McEleney (calf) are all receiving treatment and are considered extremely doubtful.

Higgins spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin before training on Sunday morning.
