Hillsborough Boys JFC host successful summer festival
The HBJFC committee, along with 40-50 volunteers and the help of Stanley Shepard and the Lisburn League Referees, catered for up to 90 teams, officials and spectators.
Children from 7 years old to 12 years old contested trophies in the nine-a-side, seven-a-side and five-a-side matches on the Saturday with teams coming from all over to compete such as Roe Valley (Limavady), Holywood, Windmill Stars (Newry), Carnmoney, Oliver Plunkett, Coleraine, Stormount, Cookestown, Bertie Peacock and Blackstaff to name but a few.

Hide AdThe Sunday saw groups of teams playing at under 13, 14 and 15 levels again contesting for trophies in the 11-a-side matches. Teams from all over were descending on Lisburn once again but it was Oliver Plunkett that cleared up in every age group for the trophies, so congratulations to Jackie Maxwell’s Black and White Army.
This festival takes a huge amount of organisation, hard work and dedication from all those involved and the Hillsborough Boys JFC Executive Committee extend our thanks to the volunteers, Stanley Shepard and the Lisburn League, The Lisburn League Referees, Lisburn and Castlereagh Borough Council and all the teams, officials and spectators that contributed to making the festival a huge success.
The event grows from strength to strength year on year and the club will now look forward to next year’s festival.
