'I have never felt like this in my life' - Gregg

A DEJECTED John Gregg admitted he couldn't describe the feeling after Institute suffered relegation heartache at the hands of Donegal Celtic, on Friday night.

The Coleraine man was visibly disappointed after his side failed to take their second chance to maintain their senior status.

"I don't think you can put this feeling into words," he said.

"I find it hard to put my feelings into words, I have never felt this way before, I feel horrible, I feel disgusted - all the things I don't want to feel, it's something you have to accept because it's happened.

"I feel physically drained and physically sick and I just hope that some other people do as well; it's not a nice feeling and I don't wish it on anybody."

As for the match itself the 'Stute gaffer felt that, just like the first leg in Belfast, it was a scrappy tense affair.

"I thought it was a scrappy game, they were the better in the second half, we changed our system to try and match up with them because they were winning a lot of the second balls, but it was a very, very scrappy second half.

"(Shaun) Holmes had a chance, they had a chance and for the goal, there was three scuffed clearances and the ball ended up in the back of the net.

"But they deserved to win it. I can't take anything away from Donegal Celtic, I would be a fool if I turned around and said we should have won 3-0, because I would be a liar and one thing I'm not is a liar.

"Once the goal went in it meant we had to score twice so the match was effectively over, because we only had a few minutes, but you can't put us going down to just one game against DC. I could write a book about things that have happened this season but that stays between us and the dressing room, but you could literally write a book.

"We knew before Christmas time that we were in a for a fight to stay up, I always said from day one that Lisburn Distillery deserve credit for coming back, but I'll be honest I have never felt this way in my life.

"We finished bottom of the league so we knew this was going to be a second chance and we didn't take it - it's that simple."
