Ian Parkhill hattrick helps Glebe to victory

And his team didn’t disappoint, the game, at the Sports Arena in Cookstown was a goal fest.

Glebe were four goals to the good at the break, three coming from Ian Parkhill in the space of just under four minutes - the final score 5-3 to the Ballymoney men.

The game started off quickly. Barrie Kelly had an effort for Killymoon, while at the other end Ryan Marks shot over from a corner kick.

Kane was tested with a Elhatton free kick, but he reacted quickly enough to keep the game scoreless.

Ian Parkhill was the man of the moment - the wee forward scored a hatrick within four minutes to put his side well in front.

He opened the scoring in the nineth minute with a cool cross at the back post. A minute later a solo run through the Killymoon defence saw him nick his second. In the 12th minute, Parkhill completed his hatrick with a fine strike from the edge of the box.

Killymoon did respond and pushed forward creating a number of good chances.

Parkhill went close again, but at the other end Kelly and Roma both had shots off target.

Defender Shepherd got in on the action for Glebe on the stroke of half time. He hit home to leave the score at the break 4-0 to the Ballymoney men.

Killymoon reshuffled for the second half and they did have a number of chances. Kelly was unlucky with a free kick as Roma caused some problems for the Glebe defence.

It was Roma who grabbed the first goal for Killymoon, he took advantage of a quick throw to beat Kane.

In the 75th minute, Killymoon scored a second, Lougran on target from a McMullan pass.

At the other end Glebe grabbed a fifth, Peter Kennoway headed home.

It was end to end football - Killymoon scored a third through Moore and could have grabbed a fourth had it not been for the quick thinking of Kane in the Glebe goal.

As the game came to a close Glebe had further chances through McCart and Elder, however the final score was 5-3 to Glebe.

“Killymoon started the game well, but we got the goal and we dominated after that,” said Cairns.

He singled out hatrick hero Parkhill for praise: “That was Ian’s first start. Ian has great ability, he’s one of the best in the league in my opinion. We have Ian back home now full time, he had been working in Scotland, he’s a great talent and we’re delighted to have him on board.”

Cairns was a little critical of his side throwing away a 4-0 lead: “ We were 4-0 up at the break, we should have seen the game out comfortably.

“They got a goal and that seemed to panic us a little, but at the end of the day we got the three points on the board and that’s all that matters.”

Having scored nine goals now in two games and conceeded seven, Cairns is hoping his side can see out a few clean sheets.

Glebe travel to Annagh United this Saturday.

“We have Johnny Rice back from injury this week, so I am hoping that he will settle things a bit at the back.

“I have never actually been to Annagh, but I have been told that it’s a tight pitch and they are a very physical side.

“I will be expecting a clean sheet and three points from my players, we really need to start gettting things right at the back. I am not asking for four and five goals in games, a goal and a clean sheet would make me happy,” said Cairns.
