Institute 5 Carrick Rangers 1

Carrick Rangers suffered their first league defeat of the season on Saturday as Institute eased to a 5-1 win at the Riverside Stadium.

A Dermot McViegh own goal set ‘Stute on their way with just 12 minutes on the clock, before Tom Carlin doubled their advantage.

Just before the half-hour mark, Darren McFadden heaped yet more misery on Rangers when he added ‘Stute’s third.

Darren McCauley made sure of the three points when he netted number four shortly after the hour.

Substitute Ryan Burns pulled one back for Michael Hughes’ men midway through the second half, but a McCauley penalty, six minutes from time, put the icing on the cake for ‘Stute.
