The Waterside men gave their all but Aaron Burns’ first half header was enough for the title chasing Blues to claim the points.

Burns’ went close to giving his side an early lead but his left footed strike was saved by Martin Gallagher.

The deadlock was broken on 41 minutes when the impressive Ross Clarke saw his right wing corner find an unmarked Burns, who made no mistake heading home from close range.

Institute’s only real opportunity came just after the hour mark but Jordan Armstrong failed to trouble Blues keeper Jonathan Tuffey and blasted well over from 12 yards.

In the closing minutes Andy Waterworth and Rodney Brown both were inches away from scoring that crucial second goal, but in the end Burns’ first half header was enough.
