INSTITUTE: Harry Doherty will bounce back states Deery

The 20-year-old had somewhat of a difficult debut at Ballyclare Comrades on Friday night.

He came off the bench to replace Marty Gallagher and unfortunately wasn’t able to keep a clean-sheet and was slightly at fault for Comrades first goal.

“Harry is only new to the group and he’s only had six or seven sessions, so he was probably caught a wee bit cold in terms of sessions and getting to work with the team,” he said.

“You could see whenever we conceded the goal we looked a wee bit edgy and the decision making sort of left us, where as it was on point in the first half, everyone was communicating and decision making was good and you could just see what a sloppy goals do to you.”

Despite the set-back Deery is confident in the Donegal man

“Harry will get an opportunity on Tuesday night and I know he’s a top goalkeeper,” he added.

“He had numerous offers before he decided to come to us so we’ll just tell him ‘listen that’s your debut go and prove you are ready to challenge and be a top goalkeeper’, which I know he will do.”
