INSTITUTE: Michael McCrudden expected to make debut this weekend

The likes of Niall Grace, Ciaron Harkin, Darryl McDermott and Stephen Mills are all available for selection, while Michael McCrudden is likely to make his debut.

“I will have a few more sleepless nights thinking about what team I will select for the Welders game,” he said

“All the boys have done really well, so there’s a lot of competition for places and we are delighted with their attitude. Then it’s up to me, Paddy (McLaughlin) and Kevin (Doherty) who we think is the right team to try and get us the three points on Saturday.

“Ciaron, Darryl, Niall, Stephen are all available, while everything should be sorted with Michael and he should be available to make his debut, so it’s a nice heathly selection headache.”

The Belfast men, who currently sit four points behind leaders Ards in second spot having played a game less, will fancy their chances coming to Drumahoe, but Deery believes in his side.

“I have said it all season that we are a match for anyone when we are at ourselves and I think it has been proven in most of ourgames,” he added.

“We know that if we play to our full potential it doesn’t matter who we are playing we can always come away with the three points.

“In our first game against the Welders I was on my holidays but I spoke to Paddy and Kevin and the 3-0 score-line didn’t tell the full story.

“For 60 or 70 minutes we were well in the game and but for a lapse in concentration where we conceded three goals in something like 10 minutes, we probably would have got something from the game, but that’s going back a long while and we have come a lot further since then, so we are looking forward to this weekend’s game.”

One man who also did well in last week’s win at Bangor was striker Oisin McMenamin.

“I felt Oisin certainly made an impact at Bangor,” he said.

“We created a lot more chances after he came on and he got into really dangerous situations, so that’s a credit to himself, as he did everything that was asked of him.

“His weight of pass and timing of pass at times might have let him down, but that’s to be expected because he hasn’t been playing games, but that will improve with the more game time he gets, but overall he was definitely a threat when he came on.”

Meanwhile Stute will face Newington in the Intermediate Cup quarter-final.

The tie, which will take place at the Riverside Stadium, on Saturday March 12 (KO 1.30pm).
