The 2-0 loss means Paul Kee’s side have now gone an incredible 15 games without a league victory.

Stute made one change to their team which lost to Dungannon Swifts on Tuesday night, with Paddy McLaughlin coming in for Stephen O’Donnell.

The Bannsiders took the lead as early as the second minute when Ian Parkhill’s strike from the edge of the box after just 67 seconds flew past Institute goalkeeper Saul Deeney.

Deeney denied Parkhill on 17 minutes when at full stretch he got a touch to the striker’s powerful shot.

Institute came more and more into the game and they were unlucky not to equalise two minutes later when ex-Stute keeper Michael Doherty pushed away Dean Curry’s close range header.

Coleraine added a second on 39 minutes a flowing move which ended with Parkhill’s ball releasing Matthew Snoddy and the gleefully finished superbly chipping Deeney from the edge of the box.

Moments later Doherty was called into action when he dived full stretch to tip over Hume’s 25 yard free-kick.

On 53 minutes Declan McKeever’s 25 yard pile driver seemed to catch out Doherty, but the ball flew inches over the bar.

Soon after Parkhill burst in behind the Stute defence but with only Deeney to beat, his well his drive was saved by the 32-year-old net-minder.

In what was a poor second half in which the visitors allowed Stute to have control of the ball, McKeever went close for the home side but his long range strike moments later flew inches wide.
