The midfielder has missed a bit of the campaign because of niggling injuries but McLaughlin hopes that’s all behind him and his hat-trick at Bangor on Saturday will boost his confidence even more.

McLaughlin believes the Donegal man’s experience with the likes of Michael McCrudden, Sean Roddy, Mark Scoltock, Stephen O’Donnell and Graham Crown will be crucial for the remainder of the season.

“Our addition for Shane this season was to be one of our main men,” he said.

“He has a bit of experience behind him having played for a couple of big clubs and bringing him in was a massive bonus for us at the start of the season and he’s starting to show his worth.

“Over the last few weeks he has been one of our best players, a lot of the boys have been playing really well, but Shane has really come into himself over the last few games and he’s a real threat going forward and he’s showing his quality all the time.”
