Two recent penalty misses have cost them four points but today they were the beneficiaries of a stop at one end and a successful convert at the other.

Adam Lecky scored the only goal inside injury time, lashing home after he had been fouled by Simon Kelly.

It was the only mistake the Glenavon centre-half made throughout a match the hosts dominated.

A series of long-balls proved fruitless and their padestrian display was quickened by the introduction of substitutes McCourt, Hall and Braniff.

That trio caused havoc in the Mallard’s half.

It was McCourt who had the best chance to score for Glenavon when Mark Sykes was fouled in the box. However, he rolled the ball towards the bottomk corner and James McGrath sprung to his left to save.

Braniff had a couple of opportunities saved too and Hall’s dangerous ball into the box was parried out but Ciaran Martyn couldn’t convert.

He almost made amends soon after but Steve Feeney popped up to stop as the midfielder tried to bundle the ball over the line.

Feeney’s performance summed up that of his team, dogged and determined not to be beaten.

They were well rewarded with both a first win and a first clean sheet in this season’s league campaign.
