It’s a Stroll as Wakehurst cruise to ‘derby’ win

Strollers, the early pacesetters in Junior Division Three, made short work of their Ballymena borough neighbours, winning 7-0 at Cloughwater Road.

INTERMEDIATE DIVISION

Results: FC Ballynure 1, Brantwood 3; Ballynure Old Boys 0, Newtowne 1.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE

Desertmartin Swifts 1, Chimney Corner Reserves 2: The deadlock was then broken on the 48th minute when Michael McGroggan scored for Corner only to see Ryan Brown score the equaliser on the 58th minute.

There was nothing between the teams after this until on the 88th minute when McGroggan nipped in to score his second goal and win the game for Corner.

Other results: Ballyclare Comrades Reserves 6, Woodlands 1; Killymoon Rangers Reserves 0, Tobermore United Reserves 3; Antrim Rovers 3, Magherafelt Sky Blues Reserves 0.

JUNIOR DIVISION TWO

Carniny Amateurs II 1, FC Ballynure Reserves 2: Carniny started off brightly taking the lead after Dean Wright scored on the 20th minute and held this until Stuart McIlroy converted a penalty on the 44th minute for Ballynure.

The second half was a very even game with the only goal being scored by Warren Simpson for Ballynure on the 62nd minute.

Other results: Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’ 0, Ballysillan Swifts 7; Moyola Park Olympic 4, FC Larne 2; Remo FC 3, FC Whiteabbey 2.

JUNIOR DIVISION THREE

Clough Rangers Athletic 0, Wakehurst Strollers 7: Wakehurst’s impressive start to the season continued on Saturday at Clough though at half-time the result was still very much in doubt as only one goal had been scored by Charles Allen on the 45th minute.

Wakehurst went two in front when Jon Alexander scored on the 49th minute then came an avalanche of goals in the last 20 minutes with goals from Jon Alexander 70th, Conor Ross 75th, Jason McKay 80th, Dale Kirkwood 83rd and a penalty to complete his hat-trick by Jon Alexander on the 85th minute.
