It’s the numbers game for Dollingstown as Ritchie’s 13th goal brings up 20 point mark

Playing on a very good surface considering all the rain in recent days and in front of one of the largest crowds in many seasons of around 300 people it was Dollingstown who ran out very comfortable winners against the home side who really created few chances during the 90 minutes.

Dollingstown took the lead as early as the 5th minute when a great through ball from Andy King, who replaced the suspended Jordan Gibson, was met by Richard Thompson just inside the Banbridge half and he kept his composure to calmly slot the ball low to the keeper’s left hand side.

Then on 20 minutes Andy king let fly from 20 yards that the Banbridge keeper pushed over the bar.

Banbridge came into a game for a spell after this and it took two superb interventions by Moffett and Denver to keep them from gaining an equaliser. DFC then punished them on the half hour mark when a free flowing move started on the right wing by Clydesdale was scrambled over the line by Thompson again to really kill off the contest. The second half was only a minute old when King tried another long range effort that went narrowly over the top.

However the best goal of the game came minutes later when Thompson started the move on the right to Clydesdale in the centre who then set up Adam Walker to fire home goal number three into the top corner.

Five minutes later Thompson rounded off a great afternoon for himself with a superb hat-trick for his 13th goal of the season.

The game petered out after this and Dollingstown ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in the end.

This completes a fine first half to the season for Dollingstown whose target of 20 points at this stage has now been achieved and should result in a reasonably comfortable second half of the season in there effort to stay in senior football.
