Fans attending Chimney Corner’s home game this Saturday are in for a footballing treat in the form of a special commemorative exhibition about the legendary George Best.

The display, which includes newspaper cuttings and other archive material, has been painstakingly collated over many years by long-serving Chimney Corner stalwart John Robinson.

“George was always something of a hero of mine - there was only a couple of months’ difference between our dates of birth so he was very much part of the era where I was growing up and watching football,” explains John, a stalwart of local football in the Antrim area.

“It was material I gathered up about George - whenever I saw an article or photo about him in a newspaper or magazine and just cut it out and kept it all together.

“It’s ironic that the display is taking place at our Intermediate Cup game against East Belfast, given George’s links with that area,” added John.

It will be on display in the Allen Park clubrooms from 1-5.30pm.
