Josh on form as Sam opens account and Town U16s see off Lower Maze

An injury ravished Juniors side started the game the better of the two sides, piling on the early pressure.

Jonny Rodgers in particular was giving the visiting left back a nightmare as he turned him inside out on a number of occasions.

The Juniors’ midfield pairing of Sam McAllister and Ryan Sloan ensured the locals were the side on the front foot.

With the game just eight minutes old, a mistake at the back from Maze allowed Jake Dennison to snatch the ball and square for Rodgers who arrived to apply the finish and give the Juniors the lead.

They had a confident swagger about them as they soaked up any pressure coming their way with captain Jordan Walker and Josh Dennison defending resolutely.

Maze failed to dish up any real threat in the first half, with the Juniors the livelier of the two sides.

Early in the second half an altercation between a Maze player and the Juniors keeper left the referee with no choice but to send both players off.

The Juniors were put under increasing pressure as they reshuffled their lineup, with Sam McAllister the heartbeat of the midfield as he dragged his team out from the back with an inspired performance.

Stand-in keeper Liam Farrell was never really troubled, as he easily dealt with any efforts from range.

The Juniors rallied and forced Maze back into their half, McAllister bursting through the midfield as the locals pushed for the goal to kill off the game.

Having put Maze under more and more pressure, it was that man Sam McAllsiter again who won the ball and surged down the left before he cut the ball back across goal for Sam Moore who opened his account for the club and wrapped up a deserved three points for the Juniors.

This week’s man of the match, however, was Josh Dennison, who put in an outstanding display of discipline and quality football throughout.
