McDaid said their friendships off the pitch stood them in good stead on Friday evening.

“We have a great team spirit, Ardmore have a different team every week and that’s their business, but we have close to the same panel of players every week,” he admitted.

“Our boys are friends, they socialise together and I think that’s won the cup for us tonight. We didn’t play well but that spirit and togetherness carried us on to win the cup.”

“Wee Darren Harkin does what we does best and that’s scoring goals. He could be out of a game for 60 or 70 minutes but he could still turn things around for you like a sixpence and once again he was our match winner.”
