Junior prizes presented at Moneyslane Awards Day

MONEYSLANE F.C held their Junior Boys and Girls Awards Day on Saturday June 30 at Moneyslane Green and thankfully the weather stayed dry for the fun packed day which was well supported by kids, parents and other family members.

The club would like thank Colly Jardine, Noel Callaghan and Geoffrey Cochrane for their help and support on the day with the hot food and the refreshments.

After the fun packed activities were over the prizes were awarded to the following members:

Under 8 section - Manager’s Player of the Year and the Fairley Perpetual Cup - William Singer; Player’s Player of the Year and the Scott Shield- Jason Ferguson; Highest Goal Scorer and the Lamont Shield - Josh Penny with nine goals; Most Improved Player of the Year and the Clydesdale Shield - Sam Bailey; Best female player of the year at U8s - Megan Davis.

Under 9 Section - Manager’s Player of the Year and the Denny Memorial Trophy- Luke Cochrane; Player’s Player of the Year and the Johnston Trophy - Marc Cochrane; Highest Goal Scorer and the DJ Kitchens Cup – Marc Cochrane with 12 goals; Most Improved Player of the Year and the Williamson Cup - Joseph Weir; Best Female Player of the Year at Under 9s- Kerri Hanna

Under 11 Section - Managers Player of the Year and the Dickson Shield- Michael Clydesdale; Players Player of the Year and the D.N. Tyres Shield- Jonathan Martin; Highest Goal Scorer and the Richard Hanna Shield - Jordan Davis with 25 goals; Most Improved Player of the Year and the Fisher Memorial Cup- Ewan Ritchie.

Under 12 Section - Manager’s Player of the Year and the Lakeview Catering Trophy- Steven Moorhead; Players Player of the Year and the Hilltop Joinery Cup- Ethan Banks; Highest Goal Scorer and the Blakely Memorial Cup- Jordan Davis with 14 goals; Most Improved Player of the Year and the Bready Shield- Stephen Megaw.

The U11s manager Wayne Davis and the Team Captain Jordan Davis were also presented the Carnbane U11 League Cup by Club Committee member Geoffrey Cochrane much to the delight of all the team players and parents in attendance.

Junior Co-Ordinators Leonard Blakely and Michael O’Kane thanked all the Coaches and Managers who put in a special effort all season to turnout week in and week out to coach the kids through the long hard nights of the winter without fail and on Saturday’s on match days.

The parents were also given special thanks for bringing their kids to and from training sessions and to and from matches throughout the season and without their help and commitment and support it just wouldn’t be possible.

The co-ordinators also thanked the Mid-Ulster Junior League and the Carnbane Junior League Committee’s for their assistance throughout the season in competitive football, and also the Banbridge District Council and Rathfriland High School for the use of their facilities for Training and playing matches.

Malcolm Roberts, the I.F.A. Development Officer for Newry and Mourne was also thanked for his assistance throughout the season getting young Coaches on the Coaching ladder through I.F.A. Level One and various other Sports courses.

It is great to see new blood come into the Club as Junior Coaches and helpers such as Brian Johnston (I.F.A. Level One), Chris Chambers (U.E. F.A. ‘B’ Licence), Jake Johnston, David Blakely and Ethan Scott were all elected new coaches this season at the A.G.M.

Wayne Davis who achieved his I.F.A. Level One last season, Leonard Blakely and Michael O’Kane who both received their U.E. F.A. ‘C’ Licence last season were also thanked for their hard work throughout the season.

The Junior Under 16s Awards Day was cancelled due to bad weather conditions and will be chalked in for a another date.
