Karl crushes Cookstown to make it a perfect 10 for Dromore

Dromore Under 14s made it a perfect 10 out of 10 on Saturday.

They picked up their 10th win from 10 league games as they beat Cookstown 4-2, with Karl bagging a hat-trick.

This was always going to be a tight encounter for Dromore, who knew Cookstown scored five second half goals against Dungannon last week to win 5-4.

In the 16th minutem a Cookstown attacker sent a header towards the top corner of the Dromore goal, but Joel in full flight tipped the ball over. Karl then headed on to Adam but his shot was well saved down to the keeper’s right.

Dromore’s midfield play was awesome from Euan, Philip, Morgan and Liam, who broke up Cookstown’s play. When a ball did get through, then Nathan, Patrick, Briggs and Johnny cleared up.

In the 27th minute, all of their hard work paid off as the deadlock was broken. Euan buried the ball into the six yard box from a great cross from the right by Karl.

After the break, Phil won a header from a Cookstown throw in and immediately passed to Karl.

He took the ball past the defender the first and second time and slotted the ball past the keeper.

Then the third goal came within a minute as Cookstown piled forward. Briggs made a great clearance that bounced over the defender’s head. Karl was able to run onto it and beat the keeper with a delicate flick.

Dromore’s fourth and final goal came in the 27th minute when Morgan won the ball in midfield, passed to Euan on the left. He slipped the ball onto Karl to score his hat-trick to take his tally to 36 goals for the season.

Cookstown did score two late goals, but Dromore held on for the win.
