Kearney delighted with second string

ORAN Kearney has praised Coleraine Reserves after an impressive week for the second string.

Not only did the seal their spot in the Craig Memorial NW Cup final, but they also saw off as strong Linfield side and Newry City AFC last week to complete a remarkable seven days.

“I’m absolutely delighted for them and the staff,” said Kearney.

“They have put a lot of work in this season and deserve the plaudits.

“I know it’s nice to win things but I know Johnny Law will be even more delighted to see these young players make the step up to the first team at some stage.

“That’s what it is all about. We have made mammouth changes over the last couple of years to the whole structure of the club and it is really paying off now.

“Johnny worked really hard in the summer recruiting a lot of players and he is doing a great job. So too are Paul Gaston and Robert McCaw with the Colts.

“We know there are a lot of good players in this area and the foundations have been laid with the likes of the mini soccer at Ballysally for this to continue into the future.

“There’s no reason why we shouldn’t have local players progressing through the ranks to the first team. YThat is certainly what we are aiming for.”
