The Bannsiders have been struggling for form of late and slumped to their sixth successive defeat at Portadown on Saturday.

Kearney though has been pleased with the character and fight his side has shown in the last couple of games, however it won’t stop him from shaking up his playing options in the New Year.

“I will be doing a bit of business once the window opens again in January,” Kearney told Times Sport.

“There will be a few players going and I am hopeful of bringing in several experienced players to bolster the squad.

“I’m looking for seasoned campaigners who have played at Premiership level, players with a bit of clout.

“We need that, we need to add to the quality that’s here. I’ve a few irons in the fire and things should start moving come January.

“This is a busy period for us with the Christmas games, Irish Cup and Setanta so we need to freshen up the squad again.”

Kearney believes it won’t be long before his side are back to winning ways again given the spirit they have shown in recent weeks.

“Last week’s 3-2 reverse against Linfield was tough luck,” said Kearney.

“And we really tested Portadown in the second-half. If David Ogilby’s header had gone in just after the break, instead of shaving the upright, this would have been a different game.”
