Kearney thrilled by Kee signing

The Bannsiders boss has been a long time admirer of the tough tackling midfielder, so much so he has handed him the captain’s armband.

“I’m over the moon to bring David in,” he said.

“He has a huge pedigree and a wealth of experience, and is a different type of midfielder to what we have at the club already.”

Kee joins on an initial season-long loan, but he has already agreed to extend his spell at the club once his current deal with Linfield expires at the end of the season.

He made his debut on Saturday and showed his quality on the ball setting up two goals.

“David has fantastic delivery,” said Kearney.

“It’s one think I didn’t even mention to some of the lads he has a great left foot especially from a dead ball. We saw it first hand last season in a couple of games against Linfield when his delivery from corners created a couple of goals for them.

“He has such a consistent delivery and it’s going to be a big weapon for us because we have a few guys who can attack the ball.

“We will be doing a bit more work on it and will hopefully get a bit of joy out of it this season.

“He admits that he maybe picks up a few too many yellows for silly wee things, but I think the added responsibility of the captaincy will make him think about that now.

“There was a couple of times today when he maybe could have got involved in things but he didn’t and I would like to think it was the captain’s armband which made him think twice.”
