Kee happy with goals and clean-sheet

Institute manager Paul Kee admitted his side may have caught Dergview on a good day, on Saturday.

The Waterside club ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at the weekend but Kee felt the visitors missing one or two players helped his side.

“It probably was a easy game, scoring four goals and keeping a clean-sheet is a big bonus,” Kee stated.

“We probably played them on a good day as well because they had a couple of key players suspended like Adam Leckey and their player/manager Richard Clarke was away on a pre-booked holiday, so that helped us a wee bit, but you can only beat what is in front of you.

“The boys put in a good effort and we have had a couple of indifferent results the last while and more importantly indifferent performances, so it was good to get that kind of solid base, which we started from and we kept going, scored four goals, which is a bonus.”

The Drumahoe man was also over the moon that his side kept their first clean-sheet in the league since way back in September when they easily defeated North West neighbours Limavady United 5-0.

“Keeping a clean-sheet and scoring four was obviously pleasing, we kept concentrated and we asked for a wee bit more determination at half-time and we got that. Dergivew very rarely threatened, I don’t think Michael (Doherty) had any saves to make in the second half.

“Obviously I would have liked to have scored more goals but you can’t fault them, because every time we have played them in the last few years they have given us a good game and that’s probably the easyiest game we have had against them in a couple of seasons.”
