Kee happy withclean-sheet

INSTITUTE manager Paul Kee was delighted that his side maintained their impressive winning run of late in the Belfast Telegraph Championship One.

The Drumahoe out-fit claimed their third straight league success on the bounce and they also haven’t conceded a goal in those games.

“Any win is a good win and obviously getting three points away from home and keeping a clean-sheet is nice,” stated Kee.

“We probably played Bangor at a good time, because you could see that they were a wee bit down in confidence, while we had a bit of confidence after the Glentoran match.

“I think we looked a wee bit jaded, although our fitness is quite good, so I think it was more psychological than physical to be honest because once we scored our goal, it definitely lifted our performance up another level and then we scored another quick goal as well.

“So the fact that we scored three in the last 15 minutes says a lot about the persistence of the team now and we have kept a clean-sheet to boot as well.”

The Waterside man was also full of praise for striker Ricky Lee Dougherty who helped himself to a brace at Clandeboye Park.

“Goals change matches, and once we scored our first, we were able to power on to a convincing victory. In the first half we were lacking a little in confidence even though we were seeing a lot of the ball, and Bangor never really posed too much threat to our goal.

“In the last couple of matches we seemed to be lacking a little in confidence, and we had a frank discussion at half time. We were looking for more intensity and aggression in our play, and that paid off.

“Ricky-Lee scored a great goal, and then another. He is a real predator and those goals gave us an injection of confidence, and we could see that Bangor’s confidence was dented, and they were coming off the back of a couple of poor results.”

Kee was also full of praise for his defence who for their third league outing in a row kept a clean-sheet.

“To come away from Clandeboye Park with a 3-0 win is an excellent achievement, and I remember that last year we played at Bangor, and even though I thought that we played very well we came away with nothing to show for our efforts, losing 2-0.

“I think that our performance on Saturday, and the result shows a lot about the character of the team and that we are going in the right direction, and our task now is to keep those performances going.

“On Saturday we scored three goals and kept a clean sheet, and that is all you can ask for.”
