‘Kee’ playersare wanted men

Talented players like Dean Jarvis, Michael McCrudden and Darren McCauley are likely to attract interest from both the Irish League and League of Ireland clubs.

While striker Ricky Lee Dougherty is also believed to be attracting interest from fellow Championship side Dergview.

Jarvis, a former Northern Ireland Under 21 international, has been in tremendous form this campaign and a host of Irish League clubs are keeping an eye on him.

FAI Cup winners and ’Stute’s neighbours Derry City are also thought to be tracking the left-back and Kee believes the one time Aberdeen starlet will in the future get a second chance at full-time football.

“For me I still think Jarvis has a full-time future in the game,” insisted the ’Stute boss.

“Now Derry have done well for example with the likes of Stephen McLaughlin from Finn Harps, he is a young player who has grown with the Derry full-time set-up and in fairness to them they have done very well with him and I feel Jarvis is no different.

“We would obviously have to have an arrangement with Derry; I do seriously feel that Jarvis will go into the full-time game and to be honest I have spoken to a few people about him returning to full-time football, so there might be an opportunity for him in January.

“To be honest I didn’t want him to get distracted from his football, he has been concentrating on it and I want to keep his form up, because he has been playing, very, very well.”

The Drumahoe man feels if any players do decide to leave Drumahoe this month, then younger players will get promoted into the first team sooner rather than later.

Youngsters like Jack Higgins and Warner Mullan are thought to be doing well in and around the first team squad and the ’Stute gaffer may start to introduce them to life in the Championship.

“Because the team has been doing well and because they know about our situation at the club that there isn’t an awful lot of money and because of that I know there has been interest from some clubs about our players.

“I’m anticipating maybe one or two moves, but we have been working hard with the younger players in particular, so there is no reason why in the New Year the likes of Jack Higgins and Warner Mullan. Warner did well in the recent friendly against Sport & Leisure, he scored two and by all accounts gave a very good account of himself.

“But the young players need to have patience too because the Championship is an uncompromising league and they’ll have to deal with the physical thing.

“Now in saying that if they do that the way for example Aaron McEneff did last year, then there will be no problem.”
