The Waterside men were a penalty kick away from causing a shock and defeating Crusaders last weekend, but it was Stute’s all-round display, which Kee wants again at Mourneview Park.

“We had a good level of intensity against Crusaders and were unlucky no to win, but I’m looking for a similar performance at Glenavon this Friday night,” he said.

“The back three defended very well, in fact the two in front of them (Aaron Walsh and Graham Crown) along with Marty (Gallagher) in goals all played their part, but we have set the standards now.

“Our concentration levels were super and we looked solid and we’ll need to be on our toes again as Glenavon are a good side.”

Kee was also pleased with striking trio Robbie Hume, Paul McVeigh and Stephen Curry’s threat throughout last weekend’s game and he believes their pace and work-rate definitely helps his side.

“All three have pace and their penetration meant we were always in the game and it caused Crusaders problems,” he added.

“I feel that penetration is something which helps us, now because all three are still learning what Irish League Premiership is all about but hopefully they can learn quickly.

“For instance on Saturday, Robbie got away from his marker and got to the bye-line now both Paul and Stephen made runs to the front post, we talked about that at half-time and in fairness they learned from it as one dropped off for the chance late on.

“Nevertheless there options and penetrating runs is what we need at the minute, but they just need to play the right pass in the final third.”

Earlier in the season the Lurgan Blues secured a 4-1 win at Drumahoe, nevertheless Stute did have their chances in September’s encounter before Gary Hamilton’s side ran riot.
