The veteran goalkeeper has signed a one-year deal at the Showgrounds following his release after six years at Linfield.

Addis had previously had spells at the Showgrounds on loan under Kenny Shiels, and then on a permanent basis under Tommy Wright.

“I’m pleased to get Stuart on board,” United boss Glenn Ferguson told Times Sport.

“I had been looking for another keeper to compete with Dwayne Nelson and Stuart is a very good signing.

“I played with him at Linfield and I know him personally and know what a good keeper he is.

“He told me he enjoyed his previous time at Ballymena and he wasn’t difficult to deal with,” added Ferguson, who reports no progress in his attempts to sign Lisburn Distillery duo David Cushley and Gary Thompson.

The search for another striker to replace departing Gary McCutcheon remains elusive.

“I have looked high and low but the reality is that, of strikers who might be available, there’s no-one out there who is any better than what we already have and there is no point signing a striker just for the sake of it.

“We will keep an eye in the coming weeks and see if anything pops up on that front.

“We will also be working hard next season at getting goals from different areas of the pitch, rather than having the burden placed upon one man, which was often the case last season with Cutchy,” added Ferguson.
