Keeper Henry leaves Inver

David Henry’s appearance for Larne in Thursday’s pre-season defeat to Wellington Rec was his last for the Reds as he is leaving to focus on a new business venture.

The Newtownabbey based-shot stopper explained his decision to The Times.

“With the new business I would not be able to commit myself to the manager or the rest of the boys as I am not sure when I will be available. So, it is better to let them know now. It is a sad day for me but I have always tried to be fair with anyone I have worked with,” he said.

“I have loved my time here and it is the club I have enjoyed most during my time in the Irish League. All the people involved with the club and the supporters have been great. Larne have signed Chris Keenan who is an excellent keeper so hopefully he will settle in quickly.”

On the prospects for the new season Henry added: “Things are shaping up nicely at the club and they are getting used to the new system the manager wants to play.

“There is a great buzz among the players and I think they will do very well. There is a lot of competition for places which is a good thing and Tommy Kincaid and Neil Candlish are doing a great job and hopefully, if I have a free Saturday, I will be down to cheer them on.”
