Played at a sun drenched Riverside Stadium, the Candystripes raced into a 3-0 lead at the break thanks to a brace from Ryan Curran and Stephen Dooley.

Stute, who changed their entire team at half-time, had chances themselves in the first half with Ciaran Gallagher keeping out Stephen O’Flynn’s close range shot, while the Cork man also rattled the crossbar just before the mid-way point of the half.

After the game, City debutant Shaun Kelly spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin.
