Kerr can’t wait to make Inver Park debut against Carrick

Kerr, who moved from Wellington Rec on Deadline Day, made his first start for the club in the 0-0 draw at Limavady United last Saturday.

This afternoon Carrick Rangers come to Inver for the East Antrim derby and Kerr wants to make a big impression.

“Chris and myself have passed each other at different clubs including Crusaders and here,” Kerr said.

“I said to Graham (McConnell) on Deadline Day that I would come in and do a job if he needed to me and, although I’m still carrying a couple of injuries, I’ll do the best I can.

“I’ve never played in a Larne-Carrick derby but I’m led to believe they can be quite tasty, so I’m looking forward to it.

“It’ll be a good atmosphere and I’m sure everyone will be up for it.”

Saturday’s 0-0 draw at the Limavady Showgrounds did at least give Kerr a clean sheet in his first game for the club, something he was pleased about.

He said: “We should have battered them to be honest but going away anywhere you take a point.

“We’re disappointed not to win but sometimes in those circumstances you just have to take a point and move on.

“I think the back four did really well and to be honest they’re all quality players, so that gives you massive confidence as a goalkeeper.

“As the game goes on a 0-0 you’re always worried about them sneaking one, but the boys did well to keep the door closed.”
