Killymoon Reserves lose to Ballyclare

KILLYMOON Reserves saw their title hopes take a huge blow on Saturday as they lost out to fellow title contenders Ballyclare Comrades Reserves.

It was a nervy start by both teams and there was little to talk about until the away side took the lead on ten minutes.

The Ballyclare winger broke down the flank and crossed with precision as the centre forward hammered home to make it 1-0.

It was a fairly dour first half and Killymoon went into the half time interval knowing that they needed to have an improved second period.

Young went closest for the home side as they went in search of an equaliser. However, Ballyclare responded by doubling their lead only moments later.

McGaw had the home sides next best effort as he somehow hit the side netting.

Ballyclare sealed their victory as Kilpatrick failed to clear and the Ballyclare forward punished him as he slotted home to leave it 3-0 to the Antrim outfit.

Next up for the Reserves is a tie against the Sky Blues in the next round of the Canada Cup.

Following Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat away to local rivals Moyola Park, Killymoon will be hoping to get back to winning ways. They host Wakehurst at MUSA with a 3pm kick off.
