Kilroot Rec hit for six

Amateur League, Division 1C: It’s going to be difficult for relegation-threatened for Kilroot Rec after Saturday’s 6-0 drubbing at Saintfield.

Maybe their win against Groomsport was something of a false dawn, given that it has been followed by four defeats in a row.

Rec are still four points adrift of second-bottom Iveagh United and, while the two still have to go head to head at the Brook Activity Centre, Iveagh’s goal difference is effectively worth another point.

Kilroot’s Mervyn Smith told the Times: “There’s something not just right. The boys were all buzzing in trainingafter losing to Saintfield the week before but it all goes wrong when they out on the pitch.”
