Lindsay (main pic) has been a fantastic form of late, a rock in Glenavon’s back line, and picked up the club’s Player of the Month award for November.

However, after the first goal of his Glenavon career on Saturday, player/manager Gary Hamilton called on his stand-in skipper and defensive partner Mark Haughey to make goalscoring a more regular feature of their play.

“Having your defenders up there scoring goals from set-pieces helps you as a team,” he said.

“It’s great when you have goals coming from different players and from set-pieces rather than relying on one player to score. It’s very encouraging that we’re getting goals and getting them from a lot of areas.

“It was excellent for Kris to score on Saturday. He’s a big threat from set-pieces. Defenders can do that, they want to go and attack the ball. Kris showed that on Saturday. The way he met the ball and the power he put on the header was quite remarkable.

“That’s what we want from our defenders. It’s one thing being a good defender but we want them to be brave in the other penalty box as well. We need them to be in there trying to score goals.

“Kris has brought that to the team and Mark Haughey gets into those positions as well. The lads were joking with him on Saturday saying that he could be our top scorer by now. At least he’s getting in there and if one goes in then hopefully he can go on a run.”
