Ladies to compete in new league

Banbridge Town Ladies Football Club will be competing in the South 1 Division of the newly restructured Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association leagues.

From this season onwards, all the leagues under the Premiership and Championship will be regionalised into North 1 and 2 divisions and South 1 and 2 divisions.

This leaves the winner of both North 1 and South 1 divisions competing for promotion into the Championship for the next season.

Under these circumstances, this leaves the YUMO-sponsored Banbridge Town Ladies FC in South 1 alongside Portadown Integrated Ladies, Downpatrick Ladies, Killyleagh YC Ladies, Bangor Ladies, Comber Rec Ladies, Fermanagh Mallards and Linfield Swifts with the league fixtures starting in the week beginning Monday April 20.

Before this, Banbridge Town Ladies FC will be taking part in various friendlies to prepare further for the new season. They are against: Craigavon (Away) on Friday 6th March, Downpatrick (Home) on Wednesday 25th March, Celtic Ghirls (Away) on Wednesday 1st April and then finally Bangor (Home) on Wednesday 8th April.

The girls in particular would be extremely grateful for the support of the local community throughout the friendlies and league fixtures this season.

The whole club are very excited for the new challenge these regionalised leagues will bring and would like to welcome any new players that are 14 years of age or older and of any ability level to come along and join a community club that is highly regarded within the NIWFA. Training is usually Monday nights and at various times and locations. If you are interested in coming along and joining the club, please do not hesitate to contact Harry Chambers on 07568064438.
