Yet again the Reds missed a penalty when they were two down and struggling to get back into the game. They also had manager Graham McConnell sent from the dugout after a difference of opinion with the officials.

“It was not good enough, everything was great with a couple of good results, but we have been brought back down to earth in style,” McConnell said. “When I played the only person I worried about was myself, but it seems they are now only concerned with formations, what other players are doing and who is turning up for training. It is a mentality I don’t like.”

Pushed on his formation with one up front, McConnell added: “I will review my decisions tonight and analyse what I have done, then review how the team have performed and make the decisions I think are best for the club.”

Bangor opened their account on 33 minutes when an in swinging corner from Dom Melly found Jordan Forsythe who powered his header into the net.

The lead was doubled seven minutes after the break when Mark Cooling converted from the penalty spot after Pat McShane had fouled Andy Morrow.

Scott Irvine then missed Larne’s third consecutive penalty, seeing his spot-kick saved by Darren Gibbons.

Bangor extended their lead on 66 minutes. Despite the best efforts of Keenan in the home goal, Stephen O’Neill bundled the ball over the line.

Josh McAllister looked lively when he joined the fray, sending a shot just wide before Morrow appeared to foul Keenan as he forced the ball home for the fourth.
