Larne escape with point against Coagh

Larne escaped with a point on Saturday in a goalless draw against visitors Coagh United. Apart from the opening 10 minutes, the Reds offered little against United who were without five first-team regulars.

Larne moved the ball quickly early on with Arron Lemon overlapping down the right to deliver a cross which Paul Maguire just failed to get a touch on. The Larne striker then forced a great save from Johnny Kempton.

United then began to come more into the game and it took a fine save from Chris Keenan to deny Aaron Campbell. The visitors then wasted chance after chance as the home side seemed to lack drive and shape especially in midfield.

Campbell made the most of the space on the right to set up a chance for Glen Clarke. It was easier to score but he somehow contrived to send his effort wide.

Ryan Berry had a great chance to put Larne in front when he rose unchallenged to meet a Scott Irvine cross only to head over the bar.

With 20 minutes left, Steven Park picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and let fly with a shot which flew inches over the top.

To cap a poor day at the office, Niall McAllister, who had only been on the pitch for nine minutes, received a second yellow for an alleged dive.

LARNE: Keenan, Todd, Lemon, C.Todd, Wharry, McClean, Workman, Devine, Maguire, Berry, Simms. Subs: Hanna (McClean), Irvine (Simms), McAllister (Devine).
