Larne set for Knockbreda test

‘The only way is up’ is normally a phrase associated with a team sitting at the foot of the table, but Larne are hoping it’s still be applicable to their progress in the run for the Championship 1 finish line.

Fresh from Saturday’s 1-0 success over Dundela, manager Davy McAlinden is hopeful of more good results in this week’s big double-bill at Inver Park.

Tonight it’s a visit from Knockbreda, a team still optimistic of having a strong say in the destiny of the league title, and unpredictable Donegal Celtic are in town for Saturday’s fixture.

“There’s no doubt that your Saturday night is always much more enjoyable after a win in the afternoon and the same will apply to our Tuesday night this week as well,” said McAlinden.

“In football, momentum can be terrific and we will definitely be wanting to build on Saturday’s great win away to Dundela.

“On Saturday I was talking to Knockbreda’s assistant-manager, Stevie McAuley, and he says they believe the number of games they have in hand over the rest can be pivotal as they try to get back in the mix at the top.”
