Centre-forward Johnny McMurray, aged 19, has signed for the Inver Park club on loan from Cliftonville until the end of the season.

“He is a terrific player and I’m delighted to get him to come to Larne. He can score goals and I’m excited about what a difference he can make to the squad,” said the manager.

Earlier this week McAlinden appeared to have ruled out the prospect of signing any more players before tonight’s transfer deadline, but he has bolstered his attacking options with the acquisition of McMurray.

This afternoon McAlinden tweeted: “Welcome to Inver Park Johnny McMurray @JMcM__x on loan from Cliftonville for remainder of season. #businessdone
