Last-gasp drama earns Southside a point

SOUTHSIDE Youths travelled to Belfast on Saturday to play Upper Ardoyne and came away with a creditable 2-2 draw.

The home team started strongly and took a early lead but for the rest of the first half Southside were on top and equalised through a superb solo effort from Kyle Jackson.

The second half saw Southside well on top but they just couldn’t put their chances away.

As the one-way pressure continued it was the home team who broke away in injury time to score.

Everyone thought that was it but Southside never lay down and with the last kick of the game, Corey McDowell scored from a Josh McCready corner - no more than Southside deserved in what was a hard fought encounter.

Special thanks go to all the supporters that made the trip and whose backing was greatly appreciated by the boys.

Southside: Brown, Dunlop, Logan, Weir, Henry, Graham, Jackson, Balmer, Bonnes, Stewart, McCready, Frew, McDowell, J Stewart.

This Saturday, Southside are at home to 18th Newtonabbey. Kick off is 10.30am at the Showgrounds.
