LAST GASP GOAL PUTS GERS OUT

It took the Gers only 22 seconds to get their name on the scoresheet when Matty McKnight played in right wing back Porter and after a neat exchange with McIlroy he checked inside the left back and shot with his left foot and Mark Wilton was on hand to flick it into the far corner with the deftest of touches.

From the restart Ardglass sent the ball long to their winger but the ball was intercepted and a ball over the top of the defence saw the Ardglass keeper misread the pace of Coly Cousins and he sidefooted in to make it 2-0 in little over a minute.

The most remarkable two minute period for a Banbridge Rangers senior team was completed when Rangers won the ball back from the restart almost immediately. A through ball for striker Ryan McIlroy was weighted perfectly and he curled around the keeper the delight and bemusement of the Rangers management and the travelling support.

Ardglass came back into the game with the right winger checking in a curling into the far corner to make it 3-1 after 16 minutes.

They then brought the tie back to 3-2 within 90 seconds of the second half with their winger lobbing the keeper and Teggart tapping in.

On 75 minutes Ardglass scored a morale boosting equaliser when a free kick just inside the half way line was headed back across goal and Teggart was on hand to volley in for his hat-trick from close range.

In the final minute of normal time Rangers were pressing themselves for a winner and were caught with a high line with a ball over the top setting their striker free but the referee allowed play to continue despite the attacker being clear of the last defender and he curled into the far bottom corner to see his side progress to Round 3.

This Saturday Banbridge Rangers have a season defining game at home to Broomhill.
