Late late joy for Town U15s

A last minute goal gave Town U15s a thrilling 4-3 win over Camlough on Saturday.

The Juniors got the better of their opponents in the opening exchanges, although a combination of Rovers’ back four and keeper ensured Rovers went 1-0 up on 14 minutes against the run of play. The Juniors kept their cool and two minutes later were awarded a penalty which captain Owen Byrne slotted home to level the scores. The Juniors asserted their dominance and got themselves ahead when Liam Farrell scored from the edge of the area to give them a 2-1 lead.

The second-half began with Rovers looking for an equaliser of their own and they got it just three minutes in when they capitalised on a goalmouth scramble. The game remained nip and tuck with the centre-back pairing of Michael Rafferty and Adam Dickson having to be on top form to keep Camlough out. Rovers got their noses in front on 27 minutes when they broke effectively to make the score 3-2.

The Juniors regrouped and with time quickly running out they grabbed another equaliser when winger Jake Dennison found the back of the net with a thunderous drive four minutes from time. With a draw seemingly on the horizon, the Juniors piled on the pressure for one last push and they got their rewards. They surged forward with the backing of the tireless midfield trio of Owen Byrne, Frank McCartan and Caleb Schiess who worked the ball through to Liam Farrell. The keeper parried his shot substitute Simon McAllister who buried the ball into the back of net. Man of the match was the flawless Adam Dickson.
