Laurelhill hit Wigan on Tour and even meet some Premiership stars

Laurelhill Primary School this year again visited Wigan on an end of season tour.

They played five matches, one against Ashton Athletic, two against Garswood United and the other two against Rosebridge High School.

The first againstAshton Athletic was a hard fought match and despite travelling since 6am that morning, Laurelhill won 6 -1 with the goals coming from Thomas Burns (2), Lewis Parker (2), Ryan Jackson and Evan Welch.

Then in two nine-a-side matches, both the A and B teams lost 4-2 and 4-0 respectively.

The fourth and fifth matches were against Rosebridge High School on the Friday afternoon. This took place after a fun filled morning playing Table Tennis, Badminton and Trampoling.

The A team won 6-4 with goals from Thomas Burns(3), Lewis Parker, Ryan Jackson and Evan Welch. The B team managed to come back from 2–0 down at half- time to win 5 – 3 with Reece McKittrick(2), Chris Pauley(2) and Matty Freeman all on the score sheet.

The squad then went to see Manchester City beating Southampton 4 – 1 in the Premiership.

Another highlight of the tour was meeting some of the Man City players and getting the chance to get their photos and autographs. Namely Edin Dzeko, Alex Kolarov, David Silva and Negredo. Thomas Burns was even lucky enough to get a selfie with Dzeko.

The boys also visited the other team in Manchester and took a tour round the Old Trafford stadium.

This was the school’s second trip to Wigan and they were well looked after and made very welcome.

The pupils were commended on their behaviour everywhere they went and were excellent ambassadors for the school and Northern Ireland.

Trip like this are a great inspiration for the boys, who all enjoyed the tour.
