Law looking forward to ‘new challenge’

Coleraine teenager Glenn Law, son of Coleraine Reserves boss Johnny Law, put pen to paper for the Bannsiders last week, and he’s looking forward to the challenge.

The mid fielder was previously on the books at Sheffield Wednesday, but returned home after two years with the Owls earlier this summer.

Having featured in a number of pre season fixtures, the former Coleraine College pupil is looking forward to starting his career in the Irish League.

Following in his father’s foot steps as a player at the Showgrounds, Glenn has also lined out for Northern Ireland at under 16, 17 and under 19 levels.

He told Times Sport this week that even when he was in England he always kept an eye on the Irish League every week.

“I always kept an eye on the results from back home when I was away. I have many friends who are pushing for first team places at the Showgrounds so I liked to keep an eye on what is going on.

“I went to England on a two year scholarship.

“I really wanted to prove myself as a footballer, I did that, and I knew that anything after those two years would be a bonus.

“It didn’t work out for me, but I have learned so much, and no one can take that away from me.

The modest teenager went on: “Being involved in football everyday for two years was brilliant, it was a great learning curve for me.”

The 18-year-old says he was ‘very happy’ to sign for Coleraine

“I knew that signing for Coleraine would be a good step for me.

“It’s somewhere where I know I will be happy.

“There is a great buzz around the place at the minute, and I know that I will be well looked after.

“There are some good players in the squad, and I know that I will learn plenty off them.

“Ruairi Higgins is a great player and I really look up to him.”

The mid fielder had a trial with Sheffield United prior to signing for Coleraine, he tells: “ I did well in the trial and the Under 21 manager was interested in me, but their first team manager said that they had too many players already in my position, so it wasn’t to be.

“I have to say I am really happy to giving it a go with Coleraine.

“I have enjoyed pre season, and the games that I have been involved in.

“I’m excited about the challenge ahead.”

Glenn, played his youth football at East End and Bertie Peacock Youths with another Coleraine starlet Lyndon Kane, will wear the number 23 shirt this season.
